At the Weber Grill Academy we use ingredients from Laverstoke Park Farm on our barbecue courses, wherever possible.
Laverstoke Park Farm, founded in 1996 by Ferrari’s former Formula One World Champion, Jody Scheckter, who was determined to create the best tasting, healthiest food for his family and himself. Jody leads the way in Biodynamic and Organic Farming methods in the UK, and today the farm covers some 2,500 acres (or 1200 football pitches) certified as Biodynamic by Demeter & the parkland is certified as Organic by the Soil Association.
The Laverstoke Park livestock enjoys year round fresh air and nourishment from the farms richest resource – pastures planted with a nutrient rich combination of 31 different herbs, clovers and grasses, following Laverstoke’s founding principle that all good food and our health depends on the food our animals eat. Or in other words – Healthy soil = Healthy grass = Healthy animals = Healthy meat & milk = Healthy people!
Such is Laverstoke’s commitment to producing the best tasting healthiest produce that Jody invested in a soil laboratory, in accordance with the Lavertoke philosophy that good farming is reliant on the quality of the soil. The Laverstoke lab is the only licensed Soil Foodweb laboratory in Europe, which not only monitors Laverstoke’s soils but also offers consultancy to some of the top growers in the UK and Europe. Furthermore the farm also has an abattoir onsite – designed by Temple Grandin- thus ensuring all livestock are treated humanely and ensure the best end product.
The Laverstoke Park product range includes Buffalo Mozzarella and Buffalo milk, nitrate free bacons, burgers, sausages, pies and meats, ale and lager, fudge, chocolate – a joint venture with L’Artisan du Chocolate, and the Laverstoke Park ice creams – featuring nearly 20 variants including: Natural, Dolce, Strawberry, Liquorice, chocolate, rum and raisin - all of which are made using the rich buffalo milk from the farms 2000 strong herd.
